![]() Hitting an apex, managing your braking as well as when you accelerate to avoid spinning, all while watching out for opponents, this is a faithful rendition of the speed and volatility of an F1 car, without too much of the faff. Playing with a controller feels far more precise and fun than it ever has before, with assists such as traction control and ABS still feeling like challenging facets to turn off, while never straying into the uber-technical realism of a fully blown sim. That feeling of thrills permeates the entire of the F1 2020 experience. On the last lap I managed to make my move, taking tenth and an incredibly valuable championship point. ![]() Meanwhile, during the last stint of the race at Monaco, I spent five or six laps in eleventh place, desperately trying to catch Kimi Raikkonen up the road from me. Nabbing my first top ten in qualifying was a big deal and one that netted decent “acclaim” for my fictional driving self. I’m getting the big cheques from the constructors champ as well as the drivers – none of it’s filling Christian Horner’s boots or letting Mattia Binotto sun himself in the Sicilian hills for the summer. Still, creating my team means I’m immediately more invested in sticking through an entire season of races, because I’m working for myself.
